President – Alan G. Gittis, Ph. D. is a professor of psychology and coordinator of the neuroscience program at Westminster College. During his 35 years at Westminster, he has served as Chair of the Faculty and served on the Board of Trustees. His curriculum development projects have been funded by the National Science Foundation. His professional service includes appointments by the Society for Neuroscience and the National Institutes of Health. He was recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience.
Vice President – William Zeiger, Ph.D. is an associate professor of English at Slippery Rock University, where he has worked since 1991. He holds an A.B. Degree in philosophy from Oberlin College, an M.B. Degree in linguistics and literature from Northern Illinois University and a Ph.D in rhetoric from the University of Southern California. He is a returned Peace Corps Volunteer, having served in Morocco. He is also a story teller and amateur actor.
Secretary - Marianne Hooker is a full-time Realtor at Howard Hanna Real Estate Services in New Castle. In previous jobs, she has worked as a research analyst, a newspaper writer, and a utility regulatory specialist. She has been an opera lover for thirty years. In addition to opera, she enjoys playing tennis, bicycling, and reading nineteenth-century novels.
Treasurer – Sylvia Ewen, R.N. has been an active citizen involved in the New Castle community for most of her life. Sylvia has performed in musicals and plays at the New Castle Playhouse and the Jewish Community Center. She regularly volunteers at the Playhouse, the New Castle Music Club, the Hoyt Institute and the Lawrence County Historical Society and her Synagogue. Her talents in organization which stem from her years of working as a registered nurse in Pittsburgh make her an invaluable asset to the board of the NCLO as it reaches out for support from the community.
Graphic Designer – Kenneth Cole is an instructor of Commercial and Advertising Art at the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center, has taught at the Art Institute, International Academy of Design, Hoyt and BC3. Ken has been involved in local theater productions for over 25 years. A firm believer that "art forms the world in which we live, the past that we remember, and the future that we dream of." Opera is the quintessential medium of art.
